Swimming & Sunbathing
Gecko’s has plenty of places to lie and sunbathe there are loungers outside the rooms and available to take to the beach, we have beach mats, deck chairs, umbrellas and small tables available for the beach. When the water is in high tide Hinkong beach is a lovely place to swim the water is perfect for lying on a lilo and just floating around.
Unfortunately Hinkong beach doesnt always have high tide and when it is out you have a very long walk to get to the water. When the water is in you can swim and it’s very pleasant. Even when the water is just starting to raise it’s an enjoyable walk with ankle deep water. This bay has quite a few little sandy parts and most of this entire bay is completely natural.
When the tide is low you will see a large sand bank in the middle this is where Ao Hin Kong ends and Ao Wok Tum begins, This is a great spot for photographs as it can appear that you are walking on water. This bay changes very fast and in a matter of 3 or 4 hours the water can be as deep as a meter from ankle deep. Depending on the weather this bay has some fascinating changes.

This bay is great for kayaking when the water is in and during November when there are higher winds this spot becomes a popular place for kite boarders. The bay is popular amongst dog walkers and pleasant for strolling along watching the local Thai people who come out along the beach to collect small muscles.
One of the best ways to experience the beach is snorkeling, one of the most popular activities in Koh Phangan. Koh Phangan is an excellent place to explore the underwater world. There is vibrant coral reef around the West and Northern coast perfect for snorkelling or learning how to dive, while some of Thailand’s premier dive sites are only a short boat journey away. other waterspouts include wake boarding waterskiing, and kitesurfing.

Fishing
The big game fishing tour guides around Koh Phangan are old hands in the art of sport fishing. The Thais have been fishing these waters for centuries. They know just where to take the boat so that you will have an excellent chance of catching a fish. Also, our guides do everything for you. Fishing is often a short trip in a long-tail boat out to a few local fishing spots.
The normal equipment is a hand line on a basic trip, so if you are looking for something a bit more high-tech ask around or go to a travel agent. There are plenty of operations with good rods and equipment and if you are willing to travel to the best spots and night fish, you may net a 20kg Mackerel or a 10kg Barracuda.

Thai Cooking schools
As so many visitors love to eat Thai food, it’s unsurprising that many would want to learn Thai cooking too. Thai cooking classes range from one day fun courses to extensive chef training programs, both of which can be equally fun and informative. Most Thai cooking classes begin with a tour of a local market to see where everyday Thai’s purchase the many exotic ingredients that are used in Thai cooking.

A good tour leader from a reputable Thai cooking school will not only explain the ingredients to you, he or she will also explain what substitute ingredients you can find in your home grocery store. Once back at the cooking school, instructors will demonstrate the process of preparing each course, after which students will try Thai cooking on their own while the instructor observes. Students typically get to choose up to five dishes and normally cook the entire meal themselves; however, this varies somewhat from school to school as many do not require you to pound your own chilli paste, a mandatory ingredient for many Thai dishes, including curries.
After cooking in the morning, your meals will be served to you for lunch, and if you’ve done your work well, you should have a large and fulfilling meal. Students at most Thai cooking schools get to keep their recipe books and souvenir aprons; many Thai cooking schools also have take-home packages of Thai spices and curry paste. Some Thai cooking schools will allow you to invite family and friends to meet you for lunch, as the amount of food you prepare is generally too much for one person to consume!
